The nights are getting darker, clothes are getting heavier and our dreams are filled with rainbows of oranges, reds, yellows and golds. It can only mean one thing. Autumn in all its glorious colours is on its way.
October brings blackberries, apples, pears and of course… Pumpkins!
Here, is what we did with them:
Woodsy pears pairs perfectly with tangy blue cheese. But something was missing. A quick root around the kitchen cupboards and the third musketeer was found. Honey. In all its golden glory, a quick drizzle and we (if we say so ourselves) perfected the perfect gluten free afternoon nibble. Sweet and savoury in every bite.

We don’t know what it is, but there is something about a classic Apple and Blackberry Crumble that makes us feel like we’re in an Enid Blyton book, curled up in a chair digging a spoon through the crunchy crumble into the warm smooth fruit. Sweet and Comforting. There’s nothing in the world like it. Especially when served with hot custard or cold vanilla ice cream. A perfect gluten free desert for both children and adults alike.
The perfect pumpkin in the patch is the one that has a strong consistent colour. Once you find it run your hands over the skin. It should be firm and free from any cracks or blemishes. Give it a quick tap. If it sounds hollow, it’s ripe. Just five ingredients and fifteen minutes and you'll have perfect gluten free Pumpkin Pancakes.
