The price you pay for our products is set by Tesco. We do not have any say over this price.
When will Juvela Mix and other products be available in supermakets?
Currently the only products available in Tesco are our white and fibre fresh bread and rolls. If in the future we expand our range within Tesco we will keep our website and social media pages updated. However the decision to which of our products are stocked is made by the retailer. The bread and rolls are out of stock in my local Tesco
Unfortunately we do not have any control over how much bread is in stock. We would suggest you speak to your Tesco store manager. If you tell us the area where you live, we will log this request.
Are your products still available to buy through pharmacy and chemist.net?
Yes. Our products, including fresh bread and rolls, are still available to buy through any pharmacy. Pharmacies will add a mark-up price when ordering them as a non-prescription item and this will vary from pharmacy to pharmacy so please always check you are happy with the price before they place the order.
Our products, apart from the fresh bread & rolls, are also available for purchase through chemist.net
Does your bread contain milk, if so why?
Yes, our bread contains skimmed milk powder. We choose to use skimmed milk powder as an ingredient in our bread as it helps to give our bread its special authentic taste and texture. The milk in our bread also provides additional calcium, which is an important nutrient for people who suffer from coeliac disease.
Is your bread egg free?
Yes. Unlike many other gluten free breads our bread does not contain egg. However, we do not specifically test for eggs and therefore our bread cannot be labelled ‘egg free’.
Does Juvela bread contain wheat?
Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye and barley and various other grains. It is the gluten (protein) in wheat and other grains that people with coeliac disease have an autoimmune reaction to.
Our flour is made from gluten-free wheat starch. This means that the gluten has been removed from the wheat making it a suitable substitute ingredient for the production of gluten-free foods. The removal of the gluten in gluten free wheat starch is conducted under strict quality controls and is rigorously tested to ensure that it meets the Codex standard for gluten-free foods. This is an internationally agreed standard that specifies that all gluten-free foods must be below 20ppm (twenty parts per million) to be suitable to be labelled as gluten-free. At this level people with coeliac disease can safely eat these foods.
Gluten-Free Wheat Starch should not be confused with normal wheat starch which is not gluten-free. We choose to use gluten free wheat starch in some of our products as it produces superior baking results that most closely resemble the quality of gluten-containing foods in terms of taste and texture. Our customers tell us that they want bread that tastes as close to real bread as possible, so it is a simple matter for us of using high quality ingredients to make authentic tasting gluten-free bread.
If you have been diagnosed with either wheat allergy or wheat intolerance in addition to coeliac disease, then those of our products which contain gluten free wheat starch are not suitable for you.
