I went through all the suggested ideas when the Norfolk CCG’s decided to stop prescribing g/f foods. I wrote to all concerned, including my MP and Jeremy Hunt etc., but all to no avail, so I don’t wish to appear pessimistic but don’t build your hopes up too high !

I too live in North Norfolk and have done exactly the same as Peter above. I doubt very much the CCG will do a u turn now after almost 2 years. They will merely say that all supermarkets have a good range now – probably at prices only Consultants can afford!

Hello Christine, As we mentioned to Peter, its good that you have done all you could regarding the decision your CCG has made to stop prescribing gluten free foods. Again, Please ensure that despite not being able to have the gluten free products prescribed, you GP still maintains the yearly blood tests recommended for somebody medically diagnosed with coeliac. Very best wishes, The Juvela Team.

Hello Peter, Although you have not been able to change the decision that has been made within your area, at least you know that you did all you could. Please ensure that despite not being able to have the gluten free products prescribed, you GP still maintains the yearly blood tests recommended for somebody medically diagnosed with coeliac. I enquired about your products both at my Drs and the pharmacy I use and was told that the prescription was being phased out and the products were going to be available from supermarkets !!!! I live in Tamworth Staffs and have been bought a Gluton free breadmaker but cannot find a decent flour mix ( unless I make my own )

Hi Jenny, We are sorry to hear you are facing restrictions in your area. There are some CCGs who are limiting or stopping gluten free prescribing and we are aware that this is very frustrating for coeliacs in those areas who currently get gluten free foods on prescription. Unfortunately, at present we don’t sell our products directly as we are set up to supply to pharmaceutical wholesalers and we’re not a retail company. However you can still purchase our products from pharmacies, we would advise you check the price before ordering though as the pharmacy can add their own markup and the price can vary between different chemists so it may be worth shopping around before placing an order. There is also an online pharmacy called http://www.chemist.net where you can order Juvela products online with free delivery when you spend over a certain amount. We apologise that at present there isn’t an alternative to this, but we will let people know if there are in future different ways to get hold of our products. Many thanks, The Juvela Team

It’s interesting to read the comments of people in the same situation re GF food. I certainly do not look forward to GF foods as I used to. There are a lot available which are not easy to eat although it’s very easy to lose weight, some– (Supermarket own brands) are not easy to digest. How lovely if it was accepted that the alternatives are not nutritionally valuable. Regards Kate Patrick Thank you for being supportive it really does help.

My local supermarket rarely has more than one or two Gluten Free loaves on the shelf, and usually of a make I do not like as well as Juvela.
If we are all going to have to buy our bread then there is not going to be enough, or any choice like people have who are not Coeliacs.
