Juvela gluten-free bread makes its debut in Tesco

We are delighted to announce that from September 18th, the Juvela fresh gluten-free bread and rolls in white and fibre varieties will be available from selected Tesco stores in the Free-From aisles.
The range on offer will consist of fresh 400g sliced gluten-free loaves in white and fibre varieties, and packs of 4 gluten-free bread rolls in white and fibre varieties. The entire range is suitable for those who need to follow a gluten-free diet for either a medical condition, such as coeliac disease, or a lifestyle choice.
“We are proud of the reputation we have developed for making gluten-free bread that actually tastes like real bread.  To replicate the baking qualities of gluten-containing bread we remove the gluten from wheat flour and bake authentic tasting bread, that’s gluten-free and less than 5% fat. Just like real bread, Juvela fresh bread is fortified with vitamins and minerals, including calcium, iron and folic acid.” Comments Jill Nelmes, Juvela Retail Marketing Manager.

We have taken this important step to make Juvela fresh bread available in supermarkets in direct response to the concern expressed by many of our customers who have been unable to access our products following changes to local prescribing in their area.

Juvela bread is crafted by experienced bakers and baked in a dedicated gluten-free bakery in the UK.  The loaves and rolls can be enjoyed straight from the bag. Once opened the loaves and rolls can be resealed and should be stored in a cool dry place.  The products are also suitable for freezing for up to 1 month.

Please price it cheaply for Tesco’s as your bread is superior to any other brand and will take over the bulk of sales eventually so you can profit from popularity and bulk sales
    Customers are swayed by price
Esp those with two coeliacs in family like mine and one a gingery teenager who can eat a loaf a day

Hi Grace, thanks for getting in touch, we appreciate your comments however, Tesco set their own price, we do not have any control over pricing in store. The Juvela Team

Can you tell me how much will the bread cost in Tesco please?
Also is there any chance that your flour mix will be available in supermarkets as I no longer receive flour on prescription as all prescriptions for coeliacs have been stopped in my area.

This is great news and an important first step. I’ll be even more excited when the flour makes its way to a Tesco store. To be honest there are some good bread choices already but nothing I know on the current shelves comes close to your wheat codex flours…

Hi Sue, Currently the only products available in Tesco are our white and fibre fresh bread and rolls. If in the future we expand our range within Tesco we will be sure to let you know and we’ll keep our website and social media pages updated. However the decision to which of our products are stocked is made by the retailer. If you let us know the area where you live we can log your request. The Juvela Team

That is great news, sadly no large Tesco near me. I hope you can supply other supermarkets such as Morrisons and Sainsburys in the near future. I would also love to see White Mix in Sainsburys as I always got this on prescription until it they were discontinued.

Are there any plans for retail sales of your flour mix? I have found many acceptable bread alternatives available over the counter but flours are a different matter. Those stocked by supermarkets are always wheat-free not just gluten-free and produce v different results. My authority (Worcs) stopped prescriptions today.

Two very happy, always hungry, teenagers in our house after reading this , both adore Juvela bread. Fortified too 👍. It’s been missed since GF prescribing stopped in Cornwall, whilst other GF bread available I’m told not so tasty.

It’s taken Juvela over a year to start dealing with the lack of prescriptions for many adults. At the time I talked with and emailed the Juvela Marketing people with no joy regarding alternative supply channels except perhaps Ocado. In the meantime after using Juvela mixes for at least 30 years I have given up making bread. Juvela mixes ( £8 plus from pharmacies) were too expensive and after trying different ready made longer life bread I am now happy with Genius multi fibre , Marks and Spencer, and own brand Tesco and Asda fibre/whole grain breads. Cheapest is Tesco/ Asda own brand plus great deal on Genius from East of England Coop at 2.38p loaf. So good luck Juvela but maybe a case of too little too late? However I might even be tempted to try Juvela wheat starch based loaves again in case they really are top notch.

Hi David, thank for your comments. It is quite a long process to get a product into a big retailer like a supermarket and the decision to which of our products are stocked is made by the retailer. Keep an eye on our website for the latest news. We do hope you try our bread again and its as good as you remember! The Juvela Team
