White Sauce

This basic sauce can be served plain or flavoured to make a cheese sauce suitable for cauliflower cheese or a parsley sauce ideal for fish.

Makes 2 portion


  • 50g butter
  • 50g Juvela Gluten Free White Mix
  • 500ml milk
  • Add 100g grated cheddar for a cheese sauce
  • Add 2tbsp freshly chopped parsley for a parsley sauce.
  • Method

    1. In a large pan, gently bring the milk to just below the boil. Allow to cool slightly.
    2. In a separate pan, gently melt the butter, and gradually stir in the Mix to form a paste.
    3. Gradually add the milk to the mixture, stirring continuously until smooth. Cook for a few minutes until sauce has thickened; season well.
