For an extra special weekend breakfast, these waffles are sure to be a hit - drizzled with maple syrup, topped with honey and sliced banana, or fresh berries with a dollop of natural yoghurt - simply divine! You can also add other ingredients such as crushed pecans, cinnamon and dried fruit to the batter.

This recipe uses 250g of White Mix. A 500g pack of White Mix is 2 units of your monthly prescription unit allowance

  • 250g Juvela Gluten-Free White Mix
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp caster sugar
  • 250ml milk
  • 3 medium eggs, lightly beaten
  • 100g melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • Method

    1. Before you start you will need an electric waffle maker!
    2. To make the batter, combine the Mix, salt and sugar in a large bowl.
    3. Add the eggs, milk, vanilla essence and melted butter and beat until smooth.
    4. Lightly brush the waffle maker with a little butter; when the waffle maker has reached temperature, pour a layer of batter to cover the bottom plate; close the lid and cook the waffles for 3-4 minutes until golden.
    5. Remove from the plates and serve warm with your choice of toppings. To reheat, pop in the toaster for a couple of minutes.
