Steak Sandwich

This simple classic is a real treat - juicy strips of steak piled high with caramelised onions, mustard mayo and peppery watercress - sandwiched between doorstep slices of our unsliced loaves.

Makes 1 portion


  • 1tbsp olive oil
  • 100g rump or sirloin steak
  • ½ red onion, sliced
  • 2 thick slices Juvela Gluten Free White Unsliced Loaf
  • 1tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1tsp wholegrain mustard
  • Handful of watercress
  • Method

    1. Heat a drop of oil in a frying pan and gently cook the onions for a few minutes until softened. Set aside while you cook the steak.
    2. Using the same frying pan, heat the oil and pan fry the steak to your liking (4-5minutes total for medium).
    3. Cut 2 thick slices from the loaf and refresh in the microwave as per instructions on pack,
    4. Combine the mayonnaise with the mustard and spread over each slice of bread.
    5. Pile the steak and onions onto one slice, season with black pepper and top with watercress; finish with second slice and tuck in!
