Marble Cake

Swirls of chocolate and vanilla sponge make this cake look really enticing, and the flavours are just divine! Simple to make and yet looks really effective.

  • 225g soft margarine (70% fat content) or butter
  • 225g caster sugar
  • 4 medium eggs, lightly beaten
  • 225g Juvela Gluten-Free White Mix
  • 1 tsp baking powder*
  • 100 ml milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp cocoa powder
  • Method

    1. Before you start, preheat the oven to 180°C/160°Fan/350°F/Gas Mark 4 and grease and line a deep 20cm cake tin.
    2. Cream the butter and sugar together until creamy.
    3. Gradually add the eggs, mixing well to combine.
    4. Add the White Mix, baking powder, milk and vanilla extract and mix to combine all ingredients.
    5. Pop half of the mixture into a separate bowl, then stir in the cocoa and a few drops of milk.
    6. Place alternate spoonfuls of each mixture into the tin, then drag a skewer through the mixture to create the marbling.
    7. Bake in a preheated oven for 25-30minutes until springy to touch.
    8. Allow to cool on a wire rack and then decorate with chocolate icing
