It is really good that more restaurants and food outlets are getting to grips with the coeliac condition and recognising the requirements for gluten-free options on their menus. Thank you to all of the restaurants that recognise dietary needs and are investing time and effort to cater for coeliac diets – keep up the good work!!
I have always been a fan of Juvela Pizza Bases, and love cooking them at home, however being able to go out and order a pizza is something I’ve not been able to do for a long time! With Pizza Hut introducing gluten-free pizzas I felt it would be rude not to give them a go!..
The great thing on this occasion was a few of us in the Juvela office were sharing lunch and were able to choose a few different toppings. It does state on the menu that all toppings are gluten free – fabulous!
The three toppings we decided on were:
Veggie Supreme Spinach, cherry tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms. (with extra Chilli)
BBQ Americano BBQ sauce, double chicken, bacon, sweetcorn with BBQ drizzle.
Heavenly Veg Goats’ cheese, black olives*, cherry tomatoes, caramelised onions and rocket.
When I popped over to collect the pizzas the staff were great, pointing out the separate gluten-free pizzas and explaining that they don’t cut them into slices to eliminate any risk of cross-contamination.
I loved all 3 pizzas, but my favourite was the one with goat’s cheese and black olives, the base was delicious and light… so light I think I had my fair share of slices! Although some of the Juvela staff aren’t coeliac they said they actually prefered the gluten-free variety!
Pizza hut is now on my list for places to eat… just perfect when a less formal meal is required!
If you want to make your own pizza base or are looking for topping ideas, I have popped a couple of links below for some great ideas… bon appetite!
