Gluten free Air fryer tips

Air fryer
With the continued popularity of this fabulous kitchen gadget, we are planning to spend lots of time testing out our favourite Juvela products and recipes to find out how they work in an air fryer!
Here’s our cooking guidelines for a few recipes we have tried in our air fryer – lots more to follow soon! Timings may vary depending on your air fryer but you can have a peek during the cooking time!
Sponge Cake
Whisk together 150g Juvela Gluten Free White Mix, 1tsp baking powder, 150g caster sugar, 150g butter and 3 medium eggs until light and fluffy. Transfer into a 6inch non-stick cake tin (base lined with baking paper) and pop into your air fryer for approx. 40minutes at 150°C.
Top tips for sponge cake:
- Ensure all your ingredients are at room temperature
- Don’t overmix your ingredients – just beat together until everything is mixed together; overbeating can mean a dense and rubbery cake.
- You can check the cake after 20minutes and if its browning too much on top, you can turn the temperature down slightly.
- As there is less space for air flow in an air fryer, the sponge will be a more dense texture – but still tastes fabulous filled with jam and cream!
Toastie
Take 2 slices from a Juvela White or Fibre Loaf or cut a couple of thicker slices from an Unsliced Loaf. Fill your sandwich with slices of cheese, ham, red onions and tomato (or your favourite toastie combo) and then lightly butter the outer side of the sandwich.
Pop into your air fryer for 5 minutes and you will have a gorgeous golden brown toastie!
Part-Baked Rolls
Simply pop into your air fryer for 6-8 minutes at 200°C for piping hot crusty rolls – perfect with soup or just simply spread with butter!
