I’ve used the white flour mix regular to make cakes. Can you explain why ,after taking them out of the oven they go all ‘ crinkley’ on the top.i’ts as if they shrink.

      Hi June
Here are a couple of pointers which may be helpful…..
      1. It may be that your oven is too hot so maybe reduce the temperature by 10C (or 20C if you have a fan oven).
      2. It is really important to use a butter or baking margarine that contains at least 70% fat content – any lower fat spreads are higher in water and can affect your results.
      3. Although it is important to beat all ingredients together well, I would recommend just beating for a couple of minutes, so that you are not over beating the mixture.
I hope this helps but if you do have any further queries, please do let me know. Best wishes, Anna

Hi Diane, many thanks for your query. It sounds like your oven may be too hot, so you could try reducing the temperature by 10C (or 20C if you have a fan oven). Could I also check why you are using the Harvest Mix – we recommend this Mix for anyone who needs to avoid other ingredients in addition to gluten, such as milk. If you are following a gluten-free diet only, I would recommend using the Juvela White Mix for all your baking. I hope this helps but please do let me know if you have any further queries. Best wishes, Anna

Hello June, Although we don’t actually have a walnut teabread recipe we do have a toffee teabread that has pecan nuts added, you could pop walnuts in instead if you like. Also we have a great recipe for Walnut, date and honey traybake. I will pop both of these recipes in the post for you today!! Kind regards, The Juvela Team.
