Chocolate Orange Steamed Sponge

Chocolate & Orange Steamed Sponge

Serves 6

Steamed sponge puddings - classic winter warmers for those cold dark nights! Great with custard* or ice-cream*.

ingredients:

  • 4tbsp orange curd*
  • 100g (4oz) JUVELA Gluten-Free Mix
  • 1tsp baking powder*
  • 100g (4oz) light muscovado sugar
  • 100g (4oz) butter, softened
  • 25g (1oz) cocoa*
  • 2 medium eggs, beaten
  • 3tbsp water

You will need: 1 litre (2 pint) pudding basin, greased and base lined

Method:

Spoon the orange curd into the base of the pudding basin. Beat together all other ingredients until light and fluffy. Spoon the mixture over the orange curd and smooth the top.

Cover loosely with cling film and microwave on full power for 5 minutes. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before turning out onto a plate.

Alternatively, bake in a pre-heated oven (190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5) for 10-15 minutes until golden.
