Steamed Syrup Sponge

Description

Steamed sponge pudding - classic winter warmers for those cold dark nights! Great with custard* or ice cream*

Ingredients

4tbsp syrup
2 medium eggs, beaten
2tbsp water
100g (4oz) light muscavado sugar
100g (4oz) butter, softened
100g (4oz) Juvela Gluten-Free Mix
1tsp baking powder*

Instructions

  1. You will need: 1 litre (2 pint) pudding basin, greased and base lined
  2. Spoon the syrup into the base of the pudding basin. Beat together all other ingredients until light and fluffy. Spoon the mixture over the syrup and smooth the top.
  3. Cover loosely with cling film and microwave on full power for 6 minutes. Leave to stand for 5 minutes before turning out onto a plate. Alternatively, bake in a pre-heated oven (190°C/375°F/Gas Mark 5) for 10-15 minutes until golden.
