Coeliac Disease
If you have just been diagnosed, have a child with the condition, or think you might have some of the symptoms, then this part of our website is here to answer some of those questions.
If you cannot find an answer to your question then just Ask Juvela and we will do all we can to help you.
There is a proven genetic link between coeliac disease and Type 1 diabetes. This means that people with Type 1 diabetes have a greater risk of developing coeliac disease than the general population.
It is now generally accepted that anyone with diagnosed Type 1 diabetes should be tested for coeliac disease, especially those with bowel problems or unexplained anaemia. Initially this is done via a blood test.
If you have any questions about coeliac disease and diabetes we advise that you consult your GP.
